Synopsis...
"Wanted" tells the tale of one apathetic nobody's transformation into an unparalleled enforcer of justice. Twenty-five-year-old Wes is the most disaffected, cube-dwelling drone the planet had ever known. His boss chews him out hourly, his girlfriend ignores him routinely and his life plods on interminably. Everyone is certain this disengaged slacker will amount to nothing. There is little else for Wes to do but wile away the days and die in his slow, clock-punching rut. Until he meets a woman named Fox. After his estranged father is murdered, the deadly sexy Fox recruits Wes into the Fraternity, a secret society that trains Wes to avenge his dad's death by unlocking his dormant powers. As she teaches him how to develop lightning-quick reflexes and phenomenal agility, Wes discovers this team lives by an ancient, unbreakable code: carry out the death orders given by fate itself. With wickedly brilliant tutors-including the Fraternity's enigmatic leader, Sloan-Wes grows to enjoy all the strength he ever wanted. But, slowly, he begins to realize there is more to his dangerous associates than meets the eye. And as he wavers between newfound heroism and vengeance, Wes comes to learn what no one could ever teach him: he alone controls his destiny.    hide

Anyone looking for an action-filled G-force thriller need look no further than Universal’s Wanted, starring Angelina Jolie and James McAvoy. In this fast-paced film, based on the graphic novel by Mark Millar and J.G. Jones, Russian director Timur Bekmambetov has done for gravity-defying shoot-outs what Indiana Jones did for adventure. Wes ley Gibson (McAvoy) is among the millions of workers who hate their jobs. He’s a numbers guy in an accounting firm and gets screamed at daily by his donut-eating boss (Lorna Scott). He’s also learned his girlfriend is sleeping with his fellow employee. One could say Wes is a loser. While in a pharmacy after work to buy some nerve-calming pills, Wes is fired upon by a gunman (Thomas Kretschmann). But Wes gets his own fairy godmother in the form of a nerves-of-steel beauty (Jolie). After she gives the gunman a nasty taste of his own medicine, she whisks Wes out of the store and takes him on a whirlwind, train-top jumping chase that soon changes his life. Fox (Jolie) drags Wes back to a fortress, on old textile factory in a deserted area of Chicago where he learns from leader Sloan (Morgan Freeman), about an ancient group called the Fraternity. Their motto? “Kill one, save a thousand” -- and they train assassins to carry out the unbreakable orders of fate. Sloan explains that Wes’s father had been part of the Fraternity until he was recently killed by the man who tried to murder him. It’s Wes’ responsibility, Sloan explains, to avenge his father’s death. How do you turn a non-combatant who can’t even stand up for himself into a hardened killer? The Fraternity begins by brutalizing Wes in one form after another. When the Gunsmith (Common) and the knife-fighting Butcher (Dato Bakhtadze) get a hold of him, it’s a sure bet Wes won’t survive much less become the killing-machine the Fraternity desires. Fox, Wes’ mentor for most of the teachings, presents a truly interesting character. She’s like a beam of unmoving steel in the center of a torpedo, and when the room is left in a heap, Fox appears unscathed. Jolie (Beowulf) is perfect in the role. The action and CGI effects alone would make this movie worth seeing, but it’s Jolie’s stunning and focused work here that dazzled me. “I like the fact that she’s (Fox) quite flat, in a way; she just believes in getting on with it and doesn’t really show any emotion,” said Jolie. “Fox has binary codes on her arm, which is part of a reading of the fabric from the Loom of Fate. She has ‘know your rights’ in different languages and ‘toil and tears,’ which is from a Churchill speech. It’s things like that that the audience won’t notice or pick up, but giving Fox all these tattoos is symbolic of somebody who lives by a certain code of honor.” Jame s McAvoy (Atonement) is not accustomed to a role with a lot of stunt work, but he liked the unique story and did most of his own stunts. “I’m glad they cast someone like me, not in terms of what I can bring to the role as an actor, but more because I’m not an obvious choice,” said McAvoy. “I like action movies that don’t take themselves too seriously—I like them when they have fun.” Morgan Freeman needs only to show up to make his icy Sloan character feel like a wolf when he’s really a sheep after Wes’ own good. The unpredictable storyline takes viewers through a mix of emotions and reactions. Screenwriter Chris Morgan, along with 3:10 to Yuma screenwriters Michael Brandt and Derek Hass, penned a great adaptation. It’s slightly dark, yet intriguing, funny, surprising, and most of all enjoyable. Bekmambetov deserves credit for making a far-fetched film appear believable and vigorous. While being compared to the Matrix and the Clive-Owen starrer Shoot 'Em Up, Wanted has more sincere characters than the complex Matrix and a plot far more conclusive than Shoot 'Em Up. Fans of those movies or any of Jolie’s no-holes-barred -she’s-in-cha rge films will not want to miss this one.

Wanted is one of the best movies I have seen in a long time. When I thought I had the movie figured out, it took an unexpected twist. By the time the credits were rolling my jaw was dropped at the outcome of the movie. It is definently worth watching again in theaters.

Definitely original! I would see it again. The magic of movies did it again...made you believe something impossible. The loom deal is a little under-thought but didn't steal the plot. Thumbs up.

Wow, what a disappointment. Lots of action and eye candy thoroughought, and the plot started great, but totally jumped the shark mid movie with "The loom of Fate". Its hard to believe Morgan Freemand could act this ridiculous role with a straight face after reading the second half of the script. It's as if someone completely different came in and wrote from the halfway point. Still enjoyable though, taking logicl thought out of the equation. Dumb ending too...

This movie says SF/Fantasy, but I think it is more like Action/SF.

N ew fresh idea
A lots of action

But I think it could be very very long TV shows... means... it is not so all together and story is little too much for less than 2 hours movie. I read somewhere there will be 3 movies total.

Morga n and Angelina adds more value to this movie but the main guy is not that good, I thought.

This is a great movie with definitely entertaining special effects. It's some sort of a cross between Matrix and James bond flix. Although of course there is no reality to the actions the movie itself was pretty much an entertaining full of action movie. i'd watch angelina movies any time.

Surprisingly good. My wife wanted to see it. When I saw the previews, I thought, "Gee, another assassin movie. How original."
Turns out, I was totally wrong. This movie was done very uniquely. Enjoyed it very, very much. Imagine that. Had full entertainment value and was a good date-night movie. Can't go wrong (Note: I don't care for Angelina Jolee in life but she was very good).

Wow, don't you feel like life is sometimes hum drum?
So, did guy in Wanted but to the extreme!! If you can put realism aside for a moment and just enjoy the action packed scenes like you've never seen before then, you'll like this one. Plus, Angelina's back on screen holding a gun and there's nothing wrong with that.

Four stars for action and totally twisted plot. You definitely know it's unbelievable but the action and angles are so realistic that you feel like you're actually in the film. I found myself ducking and cringing a lot. A must see for big screen for sure. The acting was good as well!

All cool action scenes. I loved the story narrative. It wasnt even close to being like Ferris Buller's day off with action. No unnecessary abuse of any kinds in this film. No action scenes were jumpy. Great ending.
angeli na jolie is smoking hot. 5 stars
